Subaru
Impreza WRX STi Version 1, 1992–1994
|
The
First performance car to come out of Subarus Tuning arm was simply
known as the WRX STi, it didn't have any version number until
the Version 2 came along. This was the only version when the standard
cars reached the end of the assembly they were taken aside and
had STi parts added. In versions to come the STi was built along
side the other models.

1993
Subaru Impreza WRX STi Type RA
|
The
Subaru WRX Type RA is a stripped out version of the WRX STi that
had no sound-deadening, radio or air-conditioning. The Type RA
came ready to be sold to rally teams that would throw out the
cheap parts for racing parts. The RA acronym is used in various
ways; Record Attempt is the current usage. "R = Racing, A
= Group A, the FIA rally class the WRC Impreza competed in has
also been confirmed by Subaru. The Type RA came with a Driver
Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) an electromechanical differential
that could lock the differential. |

Subaru
Impreza WRX STi Version 2, 1994–1996
|
The
Subaru WRX STi Version 2 was the first STi to recieve the red
intake manifold and the gold mags like those of the Subaru WRC
Impreza. There were also a number of special models produced in
the line up. 1000 V-limited STi edition were produced to celebrate
the success of the Subaru World Rally team, It had blue inserts

1994
WRX STi Version 2 V-limited
|
The
Subaru WRX V-limited STi edition was made to celebrate a Manufacturer
or Driver title award to Subaru's World Rally Team. The V-limiteds
interior has blue colored inserts on the seat and carpeting. 1000
WRX STi Version 2 V-limited were produced. |

1994
WRX Type RA STi Version 2 V-limited
|
Only
555 Subaru WRX Type RA STi Version 2 V-limited were produced,
because 555 the cigarette brand was the premier sponsor of the
Subaru World Rally Team at the time. |

Subaru
Impreza WRX STi Version 3, 1996–1997
|
The
Subaru WRX STI Version 3 was reported to have had 280 PS (210
kW; 280 hp) but was more like 300hp due to the gentlemans agreement
of power limit in Japan. The STi Version 3 recieved a facelift. |

1996
WRX Type R STi Version 3
|
The
1996 WRX Type R STi Version 3 was the first WRX coupe produced
by Subaru. The coupe had the same exterior dimensions as the 4-door
version but was lighter and stiffer. The Type R also came with
DCCD, minimal sound insulation, close-gear ratios, water-spray
nozzle to dampen the top of the intercooler and hardened gearbox. |

1996
WRX STI Type RA Version 3
|
The
1996 WRX STI Type RA Version 3 (4-door) comes with a roof vent
instead of map lights, and wind up windows, you can get electric
as an option from the factory. The Type RA has the same motor,
gearbox and R180 diff as the Version 3 WRX STI Type R. The Type
RA also comes with DCCD, aluminium bonnet and front guards, thinner
glass and no sound deadening. |

1996
WRX Type R V-limited Version 3
|
The
1996 WRX Type R V-limited Version 3 was designed as a base for
rally teams to upgrade as they saw fit. The Type R V-limited has
a WRX motor with no forged internals like the STI, a roof vent
and is lightweight. |

Subaru
Impreza WRX STi Version 4, 1997–1998
|
The
Subaru WRX STI Version 4 had the same power as the previous model
but the tourgue was raised from 253 lbs./ft of torque to 260 and
had forged pistons added. On the inside the Version 4 STi had
an upgrade with a new interior fitted along with new white faced

Subaru Impreza WRX STi Version 4 Type R
|
The
only update from the previous verison was the torque raised from
253 lbs./ft of torque to 260. Also forged pistons were added.
The WRX STi Version 4 Type R had the interior and the cockpit
changed into a newer design along with white color gauges. |

Impreza WRX STi Version 5, 1998–1999
|
The
Subaru Impreza WRX STi Version 5 still had the same power as the
previous version 280hp, although the layout of the engine was
made cleaner and named the Boxer Phase 2 engine. The entire Impreza
range recieved a facelift with minor exterior changes. On the
interior the WRX STi Version 5 got new seats and a new steering

Impreza WRX STi Version 6, 1999–2000
|
The Subaru
Impreza WRX STi Version 6 had only comestic changes made with
the rear spoiler made to be more aggressive, with the power
outputs staying the same as the previous edition. 2000 WRX STi
Version 6's were produced, 1000 WRX Type R Version 6 Limiteds
and 2000 WRX STi RA Version 6 Limited cars produced. Also 500
WRX STi Version 6 Limited Hatchback models were made.

2000
Subaru Impreza WRX STi Rev. A
|
In 2000
Subaru made a complete update of the second-generation 'GD'
Impreza range. The chassis of the 2000 Subaru WRX STi was stiffened
so that it had 120% more torsional stiffness and the EJ207 Boxer-6
engine. The new style included round headlights which was reffed
to as the 'bugeye' look. Read more

Subaru Impreza WRX STi Rev. B

The
2002 Subaru WRX STi had only minor adjustments made, the grille
and body of the WRX STi was minorly updated by Peter Stevens to
give it a more angular look when seen from the side. Minor suspension
improvements and a small increase in torque output. Also the 2002

Subaru Impreza WRX STi Rev. C

The
2003 Subaru Impreza WRX STi made its world debut at the Paris
Motor Show on 26 September, 2003. Subaru have restyled the 2003
WRX away from the previous "bug eyed" model, the main
design changes include a new front bumper, spoiler, bonnet, wings

|
The
2004 Subaru WRX STi was unveiled at the Detroit International
Auto Show, it was the first Impreza STi model to be offered in
the United States. The 2004 Impreza range got a new look from
the front doors forward, courtesy of Peter Stevens, who designed
the McLaren Formula One supercar. The STi gets a larger air scoop
and intercooler to help the IHI turbo feed the engine up to 14.5

Subaru Impreza WRX STi Rev. F

The
Subaru WRX STI has been restyled for 2005 and re-powered, more
safety features, a revised Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system
and 300-horsepower. The power distribution ratio in its advanced
Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) version of Symmetrical
All-Wheel Drive has been altered from 35:65 to 41:59 and uses
a new mechanical limited slip center differential in place of

|
The
2008 WRX STI Impreza 2.0 Litre Japanese spec model has targeted
drivers more interested in 4WD safety and interior roominess with
the new five-door hatchback than Subaru's rally heritage. For
2008 Subaru adopted shortened front and rear overhangs, a longer
wheelbase, a roof-mounted spoiler and a rear underbody aero diffuser
plus widened body flares. Also a Horizontally-Opposed 2.0-liter
four-cylinder turbo charged engine was developed exclusively for
the 2008 WRX STI.

Subaru Impreza WRX STI 4-Door

2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI was unveiled by Fuji Heavy Industries
Ltd at the New York International Auto Show (U.S. specifications)
Developed under the concept of 'The Fastest WRX STI Ever', the
2011 model has achieved even more advanced driving performance.
The WRX STi had only been offered in hatchback form since its
